Thanks a million to our Brighton Marathon and BM10k runners!
Our super-fit Friday-Ad runners clocked up hundreds of miles between them last Sunday (April 17th), taking part in the Brighton Marathon and 10k races. Battling sore feet and aching limbs, everyone completed their personal challenge, and raised lots of money for our chosen charity the St Peter & St James Hospice. As usual the crowds came out in their thousands on the day, making it a very special, hugely successful occasion for the city of Brighton & Hove. Everyone at Friday-Ad and the Friday Media Group is very proud to have taken part. Finish times to be published very soon!
The atmosphere at the seventh Brighton Marathon couldn’t have been better with glorious sunshine, a samba band providing encouragement to runners, and our very own Friday Media Group support station where staff enjoyed music and refreshments while cheering on the athletes. Organisers estimated that crowds easily exceeded the event’s usual 150,000 people, and we’d agree with that.
“The marathon really was a whirlwind of emotions for me,” said Emilie Whitmore, Product Manager for Retail at Friday Media Group. “The streets were lined with supporters and it was them, along with seeing the familiar faces of my friends and family who got me through, especially when I was struggling around the 20 mile mark! I’m proud to say I finished the marathon in a time of 4 hours and 33 minutes.”
“What a brilliant effort made by our runners who trained hard for months and pushed themselves to the limits in aid of a great local cause,” said Sam Kidger, Group Managing Director of Friday Media Group which owns Friday-Ad. “Staff across the business have donated money inspired by our runners, so I’d like to say a big thank you to everyone.”
