Runathon and Bake Sale raise over £350

We’re on a muscle-flexing mission to raise money for our local hospice St Peter & St James. The big event will be the Brighton Marathon on Sunday 17th April where 20 superfit FMG runners will battle through the Marathon or the BM10k race, hoping to inspire plenty of sponsorship for this incredible organisation.

As a way of drumming up momentum for the big races, and to fire up FMG’s fundraising spirit we hosted a Fundraising Fun Day on Thursday 7th April at the Sayers Common head office. We are delighted to have generated over £350 for the charity, and of course the event has given a boost to sponsorship of the runners.

Everyone dressed in their sportiest running or gym gear, a runathon – our Treadmill Challenge – took place, and a tasty Bake Sale was held to make sure lost calories were quickly replaced! We also heard an inspirational speech from Carolyn Robinson of St Peter & St James, and watched an informative video about the community care and wide ranging specialist services the hospice provides in Sussex.

Time on the Treadmill

Organised by Binny Hawketts and Rob Hancock, the day was a great opportunity for those employees not able to commit to the marathon to have a mini run for charity. A 12-hour Treadmill Challenge was set up in office so that lots of us could have 15 minutes in the fitness spotlight! From 6am to 6pm the trusty treadmill kept on moving with 48 people taking turns to jump on to do their bit. For each of the 181 kilometres clocked up, £1 from the Foundation fund is being donated to St Peter and St James, Sam Kidger the Group Managing Director has confirmed.

Bumper Bake Sale:

FMG’s finest bakers worked extremely hard to produce a spread of stunning cakes for our Bake Sale. From classics including Victoria Sponge and Carrot Cake to an innovative Easter treat – Creme Egg Cakes – the goodies were snapped up very quickly. Thanks to everyone who baked and also those who splashed the cash on cakes and biscuits on the day.
