Chef

An exciting opportunity has arisen for the position of a Chef to join the Bakehouse Kitchen café, at our Scaynes Hill Garden Centre, preparing food to the highest standards. This role is suitable for a focused individual who can work in a fast paced environment. You will report to the Bakehouse Kitchen Manager & focus on delivering the daily tasks set out by the in-house Manager. this is a great opportunity for an experienced chef, or someone who is beginning their career in the catering industry.

• Food Hygiene & Safety Awareness
• 2 years previous experience in a chef/food prep role
• Food preparation and presentation
• Customer Service
• Team player
• Ability to thrive in a fast paced kitchen environment

• Food preparation - ensuring kitchen & ingredients are prepared in advance of service.
• Food service - ensure food service is conducted in an orderly manner with the highest levels of quality. This is all to be achieved in a timely manner.
• Site cleanliness/Standards - ensuring that the cafe confirms to the exceptional standards needed to give a customer experience that is second to none.
• Product presentation - Food presentation should be creative and appealing to the eye. This is a key area that should differentiate us from our competitors.
• Waste/loss management - Minimize food waste through date control and management.
• Customer Service - take an active role with customers as the cafe is an open kitchen environment.
• All food safety requirements should be met and ensure we hit a 5-star food safety grade.
• The opportunity to get involved in hosting and running food themed events
